Scores. BCCC 315 for 4 off 35 overs. Corvedale 106 for 6 off 35.
Weather. Chilly at times but sunny and dry until about twenty minutes after the end, when it poured down.
They were weaker than usual, and Graeme and Keith profited in a long opening stand. Graeme was out first, but Keith pressed on, albeit hampered by not being able to run. Andy Hurn supplied the legs. A well-crafted hundred in spite of batting on one leg. After running about 100 runs Andy came in when Graeme was bowled for 57. He should have been seeing the ball by then, but sadly did not trouble the scorers. Archie contributed some rapid runs and was out in mysterious circumstances. Umpire Justin now off his Christmas card list. Keith retired after his hundred and Adi, Howard and George chipped in with a few more to get us over the 300 mark. Later bowling not great it must be said, though the opener returned for a couple of good overs near the end.
Keith 103*, Graeme 57, Andy H 0, Archie 34, Adi 18, Howard 33*, George 30*
They had one decent bat who scored fifty before holing out to George (off his dad’s bowling- a catch on which his inheritance depended). But otherwise were never in the hunt, though proved challenging to get out on a fairly easy track. Joe was unlucky in a good opening spell. Andy was too good for them. Wal and Howard prised out two each, as the innings subsided.
Joe 7-1-24-0, Andy 7-1-23-2, Adi 6-1-30-0, Wal 7-3-19-2, Archie 4-0-19-0, Howard 4-0-9-2.
MotM Keith. It has to be.
Highlights were the best cakes we have ever been given, and a BBQ afterwards with beer and burgers to fuel the trip home. A very decent bunch of guys, but suffering from the absence of the Simmons brothers, who have punished us there in the past.
