Barnes Common CC 2020 season : Played - 1 , Won - 1 BCCC 241 in 40 overs beat Peshwa CC -207 by 34 runs . Debutants - Jack & AJ Toss - WON by BCCC captain for a change and we decided to bat first. Pitch - Unpredictable at times as not heavy rolled this year but great to be back playing cricket Weather - sunny and a great day for cricket
BCCC batting - A few cameos by Johnny 36 , Jack 23 , Matt 22 and Sanjay 21 ably supporting Kiran at the other end who merily went on to score an unbeaten 100 by the 27th over after which he was asked to retire hurt and only came back in the last over to face 3 balls! A great batting performance overall by the BCCC batsmen to help reach a healthy 241 in 40 overs. Peshwa CC bowled well but had little answer to BCCC’s batting line up. Stand out bowler for Peshwa CC was Prakash who took 3 wickets for 9 runs. Batting figures Graeme - 0, Kiran 108 n.o, Sanjay - 21, Jack - 23, Johnny - 36, Matt - 22, Keith -13, Howard - 0, Adi- 2, AJ-4, Andrew P- 6 n.o.
Tea break taken minus teas by Maureen and Dirk .. Peshwa CC batting - Did not go according to plan as Jack and Matt took 3 wickets between them and thanks to some great fielding by Johnny who ran out Sudir who was going well on 47. A good partnership of 75 between their skipper Anil 40 and Lucky 43 took the score to 182 for 7. With 5 wickets in hand and only 8 overs left to score 59 runs Peshwa tried their best but thanks to some accurate bowling by Johnny and Sanjay in the death overs they were all out for 207, 34 runs short. A very good overall feilding display by BCCC players especially Matt, Kiran, Johnny, Jack who did a fantastic job sweeping the boundary lines. Even Adi looked good as he glided from one end to the other chasing most of the balls down and saving BCCC some valuable runs, long may that continue. Thanks to Peshwa for being such good sports and professional at all times. A pleasure to play against. Stand out bowler/s for BCCC - Considering it was our 1st game of the season everyone bowled well under the circumstances . Bowling figures : Graeme 5-1-18-0, Jack - 4-0-27-1, Arun - 8-1-38-0 , Sir Howard5-021-0 , Adi- 4-035-0 , Johnny - 4-0-17-1 , Sanjay - 3-1-6-3. Conclusion - Good win, mostly everyone got a chance to bat, all bowled and we won . Man of the Match - Kiran for his 108 not out and 3 catches. If the captain had not retired him in the 27th over he may have ended up breaking his dad's Barnes Common record for the highest runs scored on the Common, so some tactical decision making skills shown by the captain for a change !!! Catch of the match - quite a few good ones taken. Best one was seeing Johnny back in action diving low to his left to take a nice clean catch . Shot of the day- Lovely flat six over the bowlers head by Kiran. Embarrassing moments - None for a change, even the captain surprisingly did not have any on or off field tantrums !! Man of the match Kiran Beri
