BCCC 2019 season : Played - 5 , Wins - 4 , Lost - 1 , Rained off - 1 , Draws - 0
BCCC 259 in 35 overs beat Putney CC 253 all out by 6 runs
Toss - Barnes Captain won by default and decided to bat first . Pitch - very green but true . Weather - bit chilly and overcast .
Last match against them in 2018 ended with BCCC losing by 5 runs !!!
BCCC batting - It was the Zef and Nik show as they batted beautifully for most of the innings. The rest of us could only admire the shots they played and wished we too could do the same!!! Thanks to a great partnership between Zef and Nik, BCCC ended up with a very competitive score of 259 in 35 overs. Zef ended up with 112 , his first century for Barnes and Nik was making up for last week's low score to end up with six short of his century at 94. As they both batted till the 27th over the rest of us came in swinging thinking we could copy Zef and Nik's shot making but it was not to be as not too many connections were made with the ball and none of the other 8 bats ended up in double figures . Adi did his best in trying to set a club record of how many teammates he could run out but luckily only managed to run out 2! Batting figures - Zef - 112 , Graeme - 8, Nik - 94 , Sanjay - 6 , Chris - 6 , Hasan - 1 ,Phil - 1 , Hamza - 5 , Arun - 0 , Adi - 5 n.o, Keith - 0 . Stand out bowlers for PCC were Mark who was very difficult to get away and ended up giving away only 12 runs in his 7 overs with 4 maidens and Hogarth who ended up with 4 wickets .
Tea - Nice teas once again by Maureen and Dirk . Thank you.
PCC batting - requiring 260 to win PCC started badly with Hamza bowling their opener with the score on 0. If Magulloray and Mate were still at the crease at the end PCC would have definitely won as both batted with flair and kept the scoreboard ticking to keep up with the required run rate of 8 an over. Thankfully, Nik in his 1st over bowled Magulloray for a well made 92 with the score on 174 and PCC still requiring 86 to win with 6 wickets in hand and 10 overs to go. With the run rate mounting the pressure began to tell and thanks to a great direct throw from the boundary Chris ran out the 1st out of 3 PCC's batsmen. Mate kept piling on the runs from one end but was tactically being kept off the strike whenever possible. Sanjay took 3 wickets in the matches penultimate over to leave Nik to bowl the last over of the innings with PCC still requiring 13 runs to win . It was not meant to be PCC's day as BCCC won by a nailbiting 6 runs in the last over of the match. Mate ended up on a very well made 92 not out .
Bowling figures :- Hamza - 7 -2-40 -2 , Graeme - 5-1-9-0 , Chris - 2-0-34-0 , Adi - 5--0-37-0 , Hasan -6-0-38-0 , Nik- 6-0-53-1 , Sanjay - 4-0-17-3 .
Conclusion - The game of cricket won as this game could have gone either way .
Man of the Match - Nik for his 94 valuable runs and taking the crucial wicket of Magulloray who was cruising on 92 .
