Firstly, thanks to Tim for making it all the way to Teddington to score and to collect match fees. Secondly, for the 2nd week running it was nice to see Vish's family and Nik’s sons running around playing whilst watching a few big stags run around in the deer park we were playing in. All four kids were well managed by Vish's wife Cheryl. Barnes Common CC 2020 season : Played - 3 Won - 3 Teddington Town CC - 193 in 40 overs lost to BCCC 194 for 5 in 27 overs by 5 wickets . Debutants - Munna (MS), great allrounder and addition to BCCC , 3 in1, as he bats, bowls and keeps!
Toss - Won by TTCC captain and they decided to bat first. Pitch - Lovely scenic venue, slow pitch, outfield bit clumpy along with splaterrings of deer poo on the outfield, even Johnny refused to dive for any balls trying to tidy up after Adi !! Weather - Windy but stayed rain free for most of the match,
TTCC batting - If it was not for A Hilmy's 70 and some very loose bowling and fielding by some of our players they would not have got anywhere close to 193 runs. At one stage TCCC were 29 for 4 in the 11th over. As BCCC had a very good batting line up the captain in his wisdom with the help of some very basic fielding mistakes by a few senior players decided to let them score a few more than they would have got if our main bowlers had continued their spells. Adi who had surprised all in the 1st two matches with his gazelle like prowess of covering the outfield quickly was a bit off colour to say the least, but entertaining nevertheless. Capping it all was when Adi instead of scooping the ball back to Johnny who was desperately trying to keep up with him Adi managed to kick the ball over the boundary line. Adi did redeem himself by picking up 4 wickets in the end . Let’s just put our lack of fielding display down to the uneven outfield this time around and hope for the best in the next game at Barnes Common. Keshav & Munna kept well for BCCC.
Bowling figures : Graeme 5-0-15-0 , Munna - 4-1-9-1 , Vish - 5-1-19-0 , Adi - 8- 1-28-4 , Johnny - 6-0-35-0 , Jack 5-1-42-0 , Hassan - 7-1-34-3. Stand out bowlers for BCCC - Adi for his 4 wickets along with Hassan for his 3. Jack started off well but ended up a bit expensive in the end.
BCCC batting - Our strong batting line up made light work of the 193 total TTCC had put up. Thanks to decent knocks by Munna who showed all his class with a quick 48, Keshav carrying on with his exploits from last weekend by scoring another 50 and finally MOM keith who make light work of chasing down the opposition total by knocking up 39 runs in 16 balls . BCCC were 151 for 4 by the 20th over and Jack and Hassan finally polished off the remaining runs in the 27th over. With 13 overs still togo one can only wonder if the captain for a change had won the toss and batted first !!
Batting figures Nik - 4 , Vish - 16 , Munna - 48 , Keshav - 50 , Keith - 39 , Jack - 21 n.o. , Hassan - 1 n.o. Johnny, Graeme, Adi and Sanjay did not bat .
Stand out bowler for TTCC was 13 year old N Hilmy who managed to get one of our top bats Nik out caught going for a hoik at mid on. Conclusion - We were expecting a stronger bowling and batting side as we lost to them a few years ago. Anyway was fun whilst it lasted. Man of the Match - Keith for his splendid one handed catch at slip and for scoring a quickfire 39 with 8 x 4s .
Catch/s of the match - A tough one to choose from between Keshav catch or Keith diving and taking a one handed catch in slips. Keith's clips Keshav by a whisker.
Shots of the day- Some lovely on drives by Munna .
Best sight of theday- Watching Nik back playing cricket in white trousers which looked more like tights! Time to order a new club kit...
