Bright mild conditions with a flat hard wicket which tended to play low and slow. Barnes won the toss and put Kew in the field.
We had two debutants Rojin and Khurram both very useful all rounders, welcome chaps.
Our start was slow as the bowling had been tight losing our first three for 41, Nikhil 2, Ciju 3 and Hassan 8 before Khurram came to the wicket 25, Vish 45 steadied the innings. Phil a little rusty 4, Andy 10 and Howard got a good one from a chap with an uncertain action. Rojin 13, Graeme 10 and Adi 8. Total 190 in our forty overs. Extras top scored with 62. Kew’s best bowler Shukla’s figures 8. 1. 9. 2.
Kew made a solid start to their batting with their opener Youdale making 54 and their number three making 42, keeper Berg run out on 27; then Kew losing 5 wickets for 45 made for an exciting last over, managing to get the runs from the penultimate ball that stayed low and went for four byes. Vish bowled very quickly on this slow pitch, Andy, Khurram and Rojin all bowled well and a welcome return to the bowling crease Nikhil taking three for 7 from two overs.
A very exciting game that could have easily gone our way in the last over, was not be this time. Well played chaps. Looking forward to this Sunday’s game.
