Antelopians CC 255 (35 overs) v BCCC 256 for 5. Won by 5 wickets
Toss - Won as usual by the opposition captain.
Pitch - Perfect as over 500 runs were scored in under 63 overs !!!
Weather - Nice warm and sunny day for cricket.
Antelopians batting - Overall ACC put on an above par score of 255 and tore into the BCCC bowling attack with gusto spoiling a few bowling averages along the way . The only meaningful partnership was between Werner and Rowden as they scored 90 runs between them. Werner in particular batted well considering he claimed that he had not played cricket for over 10 years, saying that he ended up 1 short on 99 runs when Johnny being a mean sport had him stumped by Keshav . Saying that we did give Werner over 3-4 chances in dropped catches. Also BCCC did not help themselves as they gave away over 44 runs in extras and over 40-50 runs in the field due to some classic Barnes Common fielding displays . Even the skipper was below par and besides dropping a catch gave away a few in the field .
Stand out bowlers for BCCC - Abdullah with the best economy rate of just over 5 as quite a few of our other bowlers got carted around .
Bowling figures :- Abdullah - 5-1-26-1 , Ash - 5-0-41-0 , Adi- 7-0-48-0 , Hamza - 7-1-37-2 , Ludlow - 6-0-47-2 , Hasan - 4-0-28-1, Graeme - 2-0-13-1 .
BCCC batting - Well yes, anything is possible as Adi promoted up the order mainly as he was the only who had not changed and was still in his whites hit the winning run to see BCCC seal a well deserved victory yesterday . Apart from that highlight it was a Zef and Keshav's show as they put on a masterclass of how to take apart a decent bowling attack and in the process put on over 200 runs for the 3rd wicket and help reach the target of 255 in under 28 overs . The statisticians amongst us will no doubt let us know if this is a new record or not for the common !!! It does have to be said that Hasan , Johnny and Hamza only perished cheaply because they were all going for the glory shot to seal the victory unlike Adi who smartly defended one to fine leg !!!
Batting figures - Nik- 6 Zef- 154 not out , Keshav - 51 , Hasan -0 , Johnny - 4, Hamza - 0 , Adi -1 not out .
Conclusion - A great game of cricket where 1st the Antelopian batmen tore into BCCC attack only to be outdone by the BCCC bats who scored at 9 runs an over to reach their target of 255 in the 28 th over !! Saying that BCCC need to work on their fielding as quite a few boundaries and runs were gifted to the opposition due to some less than enthusiastic feilding displays .
