BCCC v Kensington CC 15th May 35 overs
BCCC 130 Kensington 88 Won by 42 runs
As Meat Loaf would say "Don't be sad. Two out of three ain't bad ".
2nd win of the season vs Kensington on again a lovely sunny day at Barnes Common playing in our new kit.
Lost the toss and Barnes were put in to bat on a soft to medium pitch. Nick and Keith did their bit and put on 22 in 10 overs. After that we lost another 7 wickets with only Keith standing tall for his 50. Only 5 batsmen managed to get to double figures and we were bowled out for 130 runs in 35 overs !!! Kensington bowlers used the pitch well to keep our batsmen under control. For the first time in a long time we had 3 Aussies playing for us besides Graeme and Matt. The new addition to the team being Matt's best mate from Oz, Anthony can not only bat but is also a great fast bowler and energetic fielder to boost. Welcome Anthony and we hope to see a bit more of you during the remaining season.
Kensington batters did not stand a chance against our fantastic bowling line up as we managed to get Kensington CC out for 88 runs. Only their lippy (yes had to be an Aussie) wicket keeper Kelleher weathered the bowling attack to score 26. One of only two players to reach double figures. Only 69 were scored off the bat, the remaining 22% of their runs came from extras!!! Graeme and Vish opened the bowling and knocked over 3 of their top order wickets between them. Wickets shared evenly by our 6 bowlers . Graeme -2, Vish - 1, Sanjay -2 , Nik - 2, Adi - 1 and Anthony - 1.
Both teams met in the pub for the usual offerings of Scotch Whisky bottles from Kensington which were presented to Keith for his Man of the Match 50 runs.
Man of the match - Keith for his 50 out of the total of 130 and saving the day.
Catch of the match - Graeme at short mid wicket. I always said he could catch !!!
