BCCC 107
Lord Gnome's XI 111-5 Lost by 5 wickets

Weather - lovely, a nice sunny balmy day to play cricket.
Vish got a colleague along and Dirk stepped in to help out so tks to both as we had 11 on the day. This time I think we can blame our loss on the fact that most of our bats did not get a bat in the last two games !!!
Anyway, LG lost the toss so BCCC decided to bat first for a change . But after our batting collapse to some good opening spell by French and Buckland. BCCC were tottering at 40 for 5 at one stage. Only 3 of BCCC bats got into double figures - Sanjay 24, Matt 19 and Anthony 29. LG bowled really well and took their catches. Their spin duo of Elan and Dunthrope carried on from where the seamers left off and picked up the other 6 wickets which the seamers did not get. Anthony singlehandedly soldiered on and with a bit of help from Pete tried to play out the overs but it was not to be and BCCC were bowled out for 107 in 24 overs. All 11 BCCC bats got a chance to bat but not many took up the opportunity of displaying their batting skills!!!
Tea was taken early and happy, smiling faces of both teams returned to carry on the duel of the Common.
BCCC thought they were in with a shout, as in last year's match against the same opposition we scored 131 and bowled out LG for 98 runs !!! However it was not a repeat of last year as BCCC opening bowlers did not make much headway untill Anthony came in to bowl. He clean bowled their ageing but still dangerous Matt Cannon for 16 and then went on to get their No 4 bat very smartly caught behind by our very own 6 foot 6 welsh import Phil lunging to his left and taking a awesome catch. However LG remaining batters, thanks to a knock of 31 by J Routlish, held on steadfastly to win by 5 wickets in 25 overs. Early end so the teams retired to the Coach & Horses for after match drinks. Bowling figures Anthony - 7-2-19-2 , Sanjay - 2-0-9-1 , Vish - 6-0-35-1 , Nick - 2-0-13-0 and Adi who this time managed to bring down his economy
rate 1-0-4-0.
Man of the match - Anthony for his 29 and taking 2 wickets
Catch/s of the match - has to go to our wicketkeeper Phil for taking one of the best catches I have seen him take for a long time !!!
Shot/s of the match - I quite fancied my straight drive over the bowler's head for 4.
