BCCC v Mpingwe 1st May 2016 35 overs. Won toss and batted
BCCC 153 Mpingwe 154-3 Lost by 7 wickets
Captain's match report
After two washout games the weather was finally lovely and sunny, the outfield looked lush, the captain on his debut even won the toss and decided to bat. Nik and Keith opened on a very slow wicket, batted very responsibly and put on 72 runs. Nik played on after scoring 44 and in and out went the new captain without bothering the scoreboard. Keith batted very patiently for his 46.
Big Phil played well to score 17 until he holed out to point. A very relaxed and unburdened ex-skipper Graeme played freely and settled in well to score 25 before falling to the unpredictability of the damp pitch. Debuts for Stan and Jack.
Mpingwe won in about 22 overs. Graeme led the pace attack with 2 wickets and Adi got the only other thanks to a very acrobatic catch by Joe on the midwicket boundary. Their opening bat/wicket keeper top scored with 80 not out.
On to next week. Things can only get better ....
