Pitch - A bit two paced with cracks starting to appear so needs a bit of water once the water pipework is back working again.
Weather - Great sunny day for cricket and a suntan .
BCCC batting - Started cautiously with Ciju and Hasan put on 26 runs before Hasan was smartly caught by Andy in the slips for 22 . AJ came and played well for his 22 but could not carry on for a bigger score unfortunately and in and out walked Zef out LBW for 2 being outdone by a Pagey special leaving BCCC 66 for 3 in the 15 th over . Hamza came in and started taking on the bowling and along with Sanjay put on a 67 run partnership to steady the innings somewhat . Once Hamza went for an aggressive 54 and Andrew's quickfire 22 BCCC could not put on any more decent partnerships and ended up all out in the 36 over for 225 with 4 overs unused . It was a real shame that we did not bat out the last 4 overs and put on another 30-40 runs. Regardless the positives on the batting front in particular were that it was good to see most of the other BCCC bats score 225 runs in 36 overs at an average of 6.25 runs per over without having to depend on Zef for scoring all the runs as he normally does in most of our games. Some may say it's time to move big brother Hamza up the batting order but maybe not above little brother Zef spot for the time being at least !!!
Batting figures - Ciju - 11 , Hasan - 22 , AJ- 23, Zef - 2 , Hamza - 53 , Adi - 1 , Sanjay 56 n.o , Phil - 4 , Graeme - 13 , Andy - 22 , Mo- 5 .
Stand out bowler for NCC - Billy who bowled with a lot of guile and took 4 wickets and only gave away 29 runs in his 8 overs .
Nomads batting - NCC started well with a steady partnership of 37 before Greame bowled their opener Andy for 28. Pascal continued batting well and departed for a decent 40 with another 2 wickets falling soon thereafter leaving Nomads on 111 for 4 in the 20 th over. BCCC though they had NCC on the ropes but it was not to be as Chris Laws and Chetan put on a decent partnership of 90 odd runs to take them close to BCCC total. When Phil had Chris stumped for 62 we though we may have got another glimmer of hope at winning as NCC still needed 24 runs to win but that was soon extinguished with Chetan 43 n.o and Bill 9 n.o seeing them home comfortably in the end to win by 5 wickets . Fielding lapses and not bowling to their field made life difficult for BCCC not to take away anything from NCC batting well and holding their nerve to win in the end.
Bowling figures :- Hamza - 4-0-24-0 , Andrew Hurn- 4-0-21-0 , Mo - 7-1-30-0 , Graeme - 3-0-16-1 , Adi - 8-0-46-3 , AJ- 2-0-22-0 , Sanjay - 3-0-22-0 .
Stand out bowlers for BCCC - Adi who ended up with 3 wickets .
Conclusion - Matches against Nomads have always been close games but yet again BCCC were at the receiving end of their 4th consecutive loss to Nomads in 3 years !! BCCC were let down by some less than enthusiastic feilding displays and gave away 40-45 easy runs in the field . Hopefully next time when we play Nomads again in September we would have mastered the art of stopping at least a rolling ball coming straight at the fielder let alone one a foot on either side !!!
Man of the Match - Hamza for his well constructed 53 batting at number 5.
Catch of the match - Well, as only one was taken in the entire innings out the few which were offered by default goes to Sanjay for his juggling catch at extra cover .
Feilding moment of the match - Compared to last week's high standards, quite a few misfields in this match but I guess this goes to Phil who when keeping not only fell backwards but whilst doing that somehow managed to stump Chris the opposition's highest run getter off Hasan for 62.
Shot/s of the day - Some lovely clean sixes by Hamza .
