Barnes Common CC 2019 season : Played - 8 , Wins - 6 , Lost - 2 , Rained off - 1 , Called off - 1
BCCC 134 in 40 overs lost to Post Mods CC ( PM) 135 by 4 wickets Debutants - David Hail and Dewansh Toss - Both captains agreed that BCCC should bat 1st Pitch - turned out to be a turncoat but only for the BCCC bats !!! Weather - cloudy with a bit of drizzle Last match against them in 2018 ended with BCCC winning by 16 runs
BCCC batting - Was dismal to say the least considering we had a very strong line up as we were rolled over for only 135 runs in 40 overs! Only four BCCC bats got into double figures as PM's bowlers never let our bats settle for very long at the crease. Hassan did well at the top of the order for hanging around and scoring 37 runs at the end. Vish ended up with a quick 21 runs and the only other two bats to score double figures were Sanjay - 26 and Graeme - 14. Losing wickets at regular wickets made life very difficult for our bats as PM's bowlers exploited the pitch very well and had the fielding to back up their bowlers by taking some key catches . Batting figures - Hassan -37 , Nik - 4 , Vish - 21 Zef - 0 , Sanjay - 26 , Graeme - 14 , Phil - 4 , Joe - 4 , Adi - 2 , David - 2 , Dewansh - 4 not out . Stand out bowlers for PM's was Plummer who took 4 top order wickets in his spell of 8 overs .
Tea - Maureen was missed as Dirk with the help of Lucy did the teas. Thank you to both . However, traces of the apple and fish sandwiches were evident which we all are hoping will not make an appearance again next week onwards. PM's batting - requiring only 135 to win PM's bats in particular Mike - 32 , Ollie - 41 , Andy - 26 and Willem -20 made light work of chasing down BCCC total and ended up winning by 5 wickets with 20 overs to spare !!! Dropping quite a few catches along with some very schoolboy errors in the fielding department did not help BCCC cause to defend the low total we had put up and thus the result was inevitable in the end. It did not help matters as both Sanjay and Adi got taken to the cleaners and gave away 70 runs between the two of them !!! The rest of the bowlers bowled well but did not have enough runs to play with unfortunately . Bowling figures :-Vish - 4-1-17-0 , Nik - 3- 0-17- 2 , Sanjay - 5- 0- 41- 1 , Graeme - 4- 1-16-1 , Adi - 2- 0 -30 -1 , Hasan -2-0-6-1 . Conclusion - Well deserved victory finally to the PM's and for reversing their last 3 years losing streak . They outplayed BCCC in all 3 aspects of the game. Hopefully, it was just a bad day overall for BCCC and one could easily put down to the distraction of multitasking for at least the Indian & Australian contingent in the BCCC team by trying to keep tabs of the India Vs Australia world cup game whilst playing cricket themselves! Which incidentally India won so some consolation at the end I guess ..
Man of the Match - Hassan for his 37 and 1 wicket. Shot/s of the day - Straight drive over the bowlers head by Sanjay for 4 was a small consolation! Embarrassing moment/s - again some real schoolboy fielding errors by some of our more experiencedplayers !!
