Finally back to winning ways !! Last week we barely got to a hundred runs but yesterday we ended up scoring 240 odd runs . Again a run feast on the common with over 450 runs scored in the game . BCCC held their nerve and won by 39 runs .
BCCC won the toss and chose to bat. This time around unfortunately the opening pair did not give us a good start, however the remaining 5 bats applied themselves and with help from Sanjay's 33 , welcome return of Graeme's 45 , hard hitting Henry's 84 in 36 balls , rearguard action by our match manager Suraj (when he finally decided to turn up) 38 not out and lastly Andrew who scored a quick 16 not out put a total of 240 on the board in 35 overs . A good total on any surface .
After the tea break it ended up as a very close game but Barnes held their nerve when the opposition's big hitter Roy started swinging his bat . Roy scored a quick fire 45 in 10 balls but some shrewd leg spin from our very own Warne also called Adi in the secluded corners of high finance had Roy caught by Graeme on the square leg boundary going for another six. At this stage Richmond were 135 for 6 off 20 overs . Another onslaught by Merchant's 45 took the score to 193 till Nik bowled his middle stump . There ended Richmond's fight back and Graeme along with Nik cleaned up the remaining bats and ended up taking 6 wickets between them . At one stage Graeme was on a hatrick but narrowly missed out. Most of the bowlers bowled well to get wickets at crucial times . Suraj being miserly as usual ended up with 7-18-2 . Graeme 5-28-2 . Nik 6-33-4 . Adi 4-39-1 .
Man of the match - Henry for 36 ball 84. With 13 fours and just 3 sixes
Catch of the match - have to award this to myself (Sanjay) for making an hard catch look easy at 1st slip !!
