BCCC v Roehampton Bats
BCCC 103
Roehampton Bats CC 104 -7 Lost by 3 wickets
4th loss of the season unfortunately. It was a close game in the end but BCCC did not make life any easier as we did not put enough runs on the board to start with. Playing with 10 players did not help either especially as we lost Dirk whilst batting to an unfortunate accident. We wish him a swift recovery from the cut he received under his eye.
BCCC won the toss and chose to bat. Just before the start it began to rain which did not help our top order bats. The top 5 only put on 44 with Keith scoring 20 of them !!! Thanks to a quick fire 23 from Joe and 17 from Wally, Barnes managed to limp to 103 for 9 just before we lost Dirk in 23 overs ... About 25 runs short for a defendable score.
Tea break between the innings was a very welcome distraction as Phil had to rush to the local Sainsbury's for sandwiches and drinks as the tea ladies fancied staying in bed longer !! Great selection of sandwiches and drinks. Overall a much nicer experience having tea on the Common itself rather than being cooped up indoors on such a lovely summer's day.
R.Bats started their innings badly as they lost 2 early wickets for 11 runs. In came DaSilva who top scored with 29 runs to hold their innings together from one end at least as BCCC kept chipping away from the other. In the end R.Bats won by 3 wickets in 20 overs. Bowling honours - Suraj 3-22-1, Nik 7-35-1, Sanjay 7-23-4, Wally 4-15-1.
Man of the match - Joe for his quick fire 23 runs and getting us to the 100 run mark.
Catch of the match - Suraj, for making an easy catch look hard !!!
