Barnes Common CC 2019 season : Played - 16 , Wins - 13 , Lost - 3 , Rained off - 1
BCCC 200 in 40 overs beat Southbank CC 117 all out in 31 overs by 83 runs .
Debutant - Dino Toss - Lost by BCCC captain and we were put in to bat Pitch - bit damp and unpredictable Weather -Quite windy
BCCC batting - Due to the damp pitch and some very good line and length bowling by their opening bowlers it was hard going for Hasan and Graeme . After Hasan departure for 11 , Zef joined Graeme and the two slowly but steadily put on a 100 hundred run partnership. As both Zef (77) and Grame 9 53) batted till the 32 nd over the rest of the bats after these two were out had to come and throw their bats around and helped Barnes reach a respectable total of 200. Van Elk their very very slow off spinner managed to grab 5 wickets to slow down BCCC last few overs dash towards a bigger score. Stand out bowler for SCC was Van Elk who in his 4 overs took 5 wickets giving away only 26 runs. Batting figures - Hasan - 11 , Graeme - 53 , Zef- 77 , Sanjay 14 , Ash - 4 , Johnny - 8 , Dino - 5, Phil - 3 , Hamza - 0 Adi - 2 *
Tea - After a quick 30 minute tea break whilst watching the Ashes play resumed .
Southbank CC batting - Hamza and Abi opened the bowling . With Hamza bowling a great line and length he made it very difficult to be put away and bowled 5 maidens out of his 8 over giving away only 15 runs and claiming 1 wicket . Abi at the other end was finding it difficult to get his line and length due to the strong winds, something I am sure he will master with a bit more experience.Jon Thornton their captain opened and was lucky to have been dropped a few times before finally being bowled middle stump by Graeme for 16 . Only 2 other SCC bats managed to get into double figures mainly due to Adi who used the windy conditions well and slowed things down for their batters and ended up with a well deserved 5 wicket haul. As Adi left early I am sure he will remember to buy all his teammates a drink / jug after the next match he plays. Southbank were bowled out in the 31 st over for 117 runs.
Stand out bowler/s for BCCC were Adi who took 5 wickets for 11 runs along with Hamza who in his 8 overs bowled 5 maidens and took 1 wicket.
Bowling figures :- Hamza - 8-5-15-1, Abi- 6-1-29-0 , Graeme - 3-0-12-2 , Ash Arora - 6-1-28-1 , Adi - 5-2-11-5, Johnny - 2-0-6-1.
Conclusion - BCCC batted and bowled well enough to beat Southbank cc who generally put up a stronger fight but not this time around and were soundly beaten.
Man of the Match - Adi for his 5 wicket haul . I guess he will be leaving it to the captain to choose which nd he should be bowling from in future !!!
Catch of the match - by Phil who did a good job behind the stumps in tricky conditions .
Shots of the day - Some lofty sixes by Zef over mid wicket .
Embarrassing moments - After hearing stories that his catching has improved Zef somehow managed to drop a few dollies again!
